On Hardcore, I earned more upgrade points killing sinful enemies-especially in Nahantu-than I ever did repeatedly summoning Azmodan in the same amount of time.

Even on softcore, where bosses die faster due to population, the process is still slow compared to active farming. World Bosses are convenient, not optimal.

Where the Mythic Prankster Sigil Can Drop

To be clear, the Prankster Sigil is not tied to a single activity. It can drop from:

Random enemies in the open world
Elite packs
Chests
World Bosses
Tree of Whispers caches
Crafted sigils

This means the best strategy isn’t targeting one activity-it’s maximizing sigil volume.

The more sigils you obtain or create, the more chances you give RNG to work in your favor.

Reputation Caches: The Silent Winner

One of the most overlooked sources is the Reputation Cache.
On Hardcore, that’s exactly where I found one of my Prankster Sigils. No World Boss. No Azmodan. Just a cache opened at the right time with the right roll.

That’s the uncomfortable truth of this chase: you can do everything „right“ and still get nothing, or you can open a single cache and hit the jackpot.
Ultimately, luck is king.

The Most Efficient Farming Strategy: Kill Sinful Enemies

If you’re trying to improve your odds without relying on bosses, the best advice is simple:

Go into the world and kill sinful enemies.

These are the mobs with a fire-like visual effect, and while they unfortunately don’t appear in Helltide, they are plentiful elsewhere. Farming them:

Generates upgrade points efficiently
Feeds sigil acquisition indirectly
Keeps you active instead of waiting on summons

In Hardcore especially, this method is safer and more consistent than boss farming.

Crafting Sigils: Your Second Best Option

The second major path to finding a Mythic Prankster Sigil is crafting.

Yes, salvaging sigils from World Bosses works-but on Hardcore, that risk often isn’t worth it. Instead, Helltide becomes the clear winner.Why Helltide Is Ideal

Lair boss materials (top-tier leveling content)
Multiple chest types
Large amounts of sigil powder
Constant enemy density

By opening as many Helltide chests as possible, you accumulate enough sigil powder to craft repeatedly. Every craft is another roll of the dice.

Will it guarantee a Prankster Sigil? No.

Will it dramatically increase your attempts per hour? Absolutely.
And once again, luck decides the outcome.

Why Azmodan Still Has Value (But Isn’t Mandatory)

To be fair, Azmodan’s Divine Gift isn’t useless. It’s often chosen first because:

It increases sigil drops from World Bosses
It offers structured progression
It’s straightforward on softcore servers

But leveling it is slow, and for many players, not fun.

If you enjoy World Boss rotations, go for it. If not, you’re not locked out of anything meaningful. Farming enemies and crafting sigils remains just as viable-and in many cases, faster.

The Double Goblin Surprise: A Rare but Fascinating Interaction

Here’s a fun and little-known interaction that adds intrigue to the Prankster Sigil.

If you use a Prankster Sigil and a Horadric Strongroom spawns within that dungeon, you can encounter two Mythic Goblins.

Yes-two.

This has only happened once in my experience, and unfortunately, I wasn’t prepared. I focused on attunement instead of hunting the second goblin, and it despawned once maximum attunement was reached.

Still, it raises an interesting possibility.

If you find your goblin early in a Prankster dungeon, it may be worth:

Completing the entire dungeon
Checking Strongrooms carefully
Avoiding rushing objectives

Who knows what other secrets might be hiding there?

So What’s the Best Way to Get the Mythic Prankster Sigil?

The honest answer isn’t glamorous:

Kill as many enemies as possible
Open as many caches as possible
Craft as many sigils as possible
Waste as little time as possible

There is no guaranteed route.
There is no pity system.
There is no progression bar.
Only RNG.
